Omega,
in association with FABCOS, had a vision of showcasing the
expertise of big business to a largely FABCOS audience. The FABCOS membership has an unique advantage in the economy as it has
access to a significant and huge target market, previously
inaccessible to corporate South Africa.
The
vital aspects of any thriving business are vision, strategy
and entrepreneurship. In
South Africa, larger company’s achievements are publicised much more
than those of SMEs, which are generally ignored. Yet
SMEs form 95-96% of businesses in the South African
economy, comparative to Japan’s 98%, and are estimated to
produce 35% of South Africa’s GDP.
Participation
in this Omega/FABCOS initiative was beneficial to both big
business and SMEs, as SMEs are the customers of big business,
and this event aimed to encourage entrepreneurship.
Mxolisi
Zwane, chairman of FABCOS, identified a group of leading
South African businesses whose experience, skill and growth
demonstrate vision, strategy and entrepreneurship as highly
essential components of their success.
The
combination of a majority SME audience with speakers of
extraordinary high calibre, resulted in an exciting and
instructive event.
