Summary

As distinct from mining conferences as such, which are generally day-long and have a full-fledged programme dealing with a general theme, Omega’s mining presentations are half-day events offering the five or six presenters an opportunity to specifically promote their company or mining project to a selected audience where interest is guaranteed.  Omega has arranged such investment presentations in London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Zurich, Geneva and Frankfurt, etc.  This was the first time we had organised such a presentations in Johannesburg, where it seems to be something of a novelty.  From all accounts, however, it was very successful.  Presenters included:

  • Henk Deist of the Mining and Resource Focus Group, RMB Resources

  • Roger Falls, Executive Director, Bateman Minerals and Metals Division

  • Nick van Rensburg, Vice-President, Anglo American (Zimele)

  • Marais Steyn, Financial Director, Afrikander Lease

  • Chris Hart, Senior Treasury Economist, ABSA Group Economic Research

  • Pierre Fourie, Executive Director, Lower Quartile Solutions

The 20-minute presenters were followed by 10 minutes question and answer and in most instances very lively exchanges took place between the presenters and the approximately 50 attendees.  Attendance was of course by invitation and was drawn from private banks, investment houses, stockbrokers, financial analysts and advisers, senior media persons and mining consultants.  FNB, who hosted the event, said they were very with both the programme and the outcome.

The next such corporate presentation will take place at the FNB in Sandton on 12 August 2003.   For further information contact:
