A
Strategic Choice for your Investments
Over
250 delegates attended the East London Industrial Development Zone
International Business Workshop and Exhibition at the Osner Hotel on
the 29th and 30th May. This was a very high level of attendance
indeed. Over 100 people visited the IDZ site, and the industry breakout
sessions were also packed with 50 people at automotive, and 30 each in
textiles and infrastructure. There were a number of investor consortia
represented at the event, as well as prominent members of government and
industry leaders.
Highlights
of the conference included addresses by DaimlerChysler Chairman
Christoph Köpke, Eastern Cape Premier Makhenkesi Stofile, MEC Enoch
Godongwana, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Lindiwe Hendricks, and
Assistant US Trade Representative Florizelle Liser. The Gala Dinner was
a festive occasion complete with vibrant Xhosa dancing and a live jazz
band.
Our
special thanks to our Lead sponsors, DaimlerChrysler, the National
Ports Authority and the IDC; Sponsors ABSA and FNB
Corporate; Exhibitors Kei Rail, Eastern Cape Tourism Board, Buffalo City
Municipality, Airports Company South Africa, DBSA and Standard
Corporate and Merchant Bank; and all the staff at the Osner Hotel
who worked so hard to make it all happen.
The
feedback has been universally very positive:
- ‘On
behalf of the Development Bank of Southern Africa, a big thank you
to you and your colleagues for all the hard work done during the IDZ
Conference. We have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and more so
benefited from the interactions and presentations that took place
during the conference…’ - DBSA
