Omega has recently ventured into the World of Business and Sport, having organised two major events focused on upcoming global sporting tournaments in South Africa.  Our focus was on five major events, namely the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup, The South African F1 Grand Prix Bid, The 2011 IRB Rugby World Cup Bid, Team Shosholoza (South Africa’s challenge for the America’s Cup), and the South African PGA Sunshine Tour.  Other business and sports issues addressed include sports sponsorship of major corporates, businesses investment in intellectual capital in sports, and strategies for SME’s involvement in these major sporting events.

Due to the accomplishment of the World Sporting Events Conferences, Omega now plans to further our involvement in the Business and Sports market. We now staged the World Sporting Events Conference in the United Kingdom, which we did in association with In-Site Sports Holdings. The central issues at the conference included:

• Promoting South Africa as an International Sporting Destination for Major Sporting Events

• Promoting major sporting events planned to take place in South Africa over the next 10 - 12 years

• Business opportunities that present themselves with major sporting events

• Event staging competencies - skills exchange between developed and developing countries
