Conference Summation

Omega’s objective in organising this event was to bring together parties in the mining industry who, in different ways, need each other and to create a high-powered networking platform.  Omega’s mining consultancy arm organized appointments, where required, with specialists both before and after the forum.

This significant investment opportunity was a follow-up to several highly successful similar forums/conferences in Singapore, London and Johannesburg and reflects the following developments:

  • Worldwide resurgence in investment interest in resources and mining.

  • The fluctuating price over the past six months of gold and platinum has re-focused attention on both long-term and portfolio investment in not only these metals but others as well.

  • Specific opportunities for investors on the producer side, given dynamic changes in the mining industry in all major production centres.

  • The growing interaction between mining interests across continents opens the way for cross-knitting investment opportunities.

  • This half-day workshop offered the investors inside track investment information.

In organising this mining and metals forum in Brussels and Amsterdam, we were aware that the investment community in London is well-served by Omega and other investment relations companies.  Amsterdam and Brussels, with their very considerable investment communities, have largely been neglected – hence the reason for organising these workshops and we therefore knew that we were filling a need.  Attendance was by invitation, and attendees were largely from the following:

According to the evaluation forms completed and returned, the format was judged to be highly effective and the presentations were generally thought to be excellent.  Also mentioned was the fact that there is a need for these types of events on a regular basis, which is our intention.
