Conference Summation

 

The conference highlighted and succeeded in addressing the following areas:

  • The importance of boosting UK / Singapore business relations, including tourism;

Some interesting facts regarding the relationship between Britain and Singapore are:

  • Britain is the third largest investor in Singapore, with over UKŁ7 billion of investments and more than 700 companies represented.

  • Britain is Singapore’s second largest market outside Asia, and Singapore is Britain’s eighth most important market outside of Europe.

  • Their two-way trade is worth approximately UKŁ4 billion.

  • Some 19,000 British people live and work in Singapore.

  • At any one time there are over 5,000 Singaporeans studying in Britain.

  • 600,000 Britons and Singaporeans visit each other’s countries every year and through the Internet, even greater numbers pay virtual visits.
